Colchester is a city in Essex, England, on the River Colne. It stands where the Roman castrum of Camulodunum was, and Roman remains include the Balkerne Gate, a 1st-century gateway, and the Temple of Claudius. Colchester Castle is a Norman castle, now a museum, and the medieval St Botolph's Priory, the Grade I listed Town Hall and the Jumbo Water Tower, a Victorian water tower, are in the city too.
