How do you work out the moon?
From the moon's and the sun's real positions for your place and minute, on UK clock time with summer time allowed for: the phase, how much of it was lit, and the way it sat in the sky above you. The face is the real moon — its craters and dark seas from a map made by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (map: NASA's Scientific Visualization Studio) — lit from the sun's direction that night.
What if it was cloudy, or the moon hadn't risen?
We show the moon above the clouds: the phase it had that night, whatever the weather did. If it was below the horizon at the time you choose, the editor tells you — the phase is still that night's.
Will I see it before I pay?
Yes. You see the whole poster as you make it — the moon, the design and your words — and you approve it before checkout.
Which sizes and finishes can I choose?
A4, A3, A2 and A1 on 200gsm matte paper. A4 is unframed; A3, A2 and A1 can also be framed in black, white or natural wood. Canvas comes in 30×45, 40×60 and 60×90cm. Portrait or landscape.
