William Henry Crossland won an 1864 competition to design it, and the Gothic Revival building opened on 27 September 1871. Its first clock tower, 240 feet (73 m) tall, carried a wooden spire and a gilded figure of Saint George and the Dragon; fire destroyed both on 10 April 1883, and for four years there was no spire. In 1887 a stone clock tower and spire 190 feet (58 m) high went up, designed by Alfred Waterhouse in the manner of Manchester Town Hall. Its stained glass is highly praised, and it is Grade I listed.

What's in the pack

Ten folded cards, all of this design, with ten envelopes: A6 (14.8 × 10.5 cm), on 350gsm silk card.

Inside: “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year”, with room to write your own message.

On the back: the Here Looks Good plate.

Prefer it on the wall? Rochdale Town Hall Poster. See all our Christmas cards.

Drawn from a photograph by Tim Green, CC BY 2.0 (source), redrawn as an illustration.

Free UK standard delivery.
