Guarda il nostro primo campione in una vera casaSalts Mill, Shipley, West Yorkshire — drawn in our Retro Railway style from a real photograph of the real place, reimagined with AI.
Retro railway-poster illustration of Salts Mill in Shipley, looking along the canal: long mill buildings of honey and red stone with rows of windows on both banks, an Italianate tower, a footbridge and narrowboat ahead, and reflections in the water beside the towpath.
Salts Mill is a former textile mill in Saltaire, Bradford. Sir Titus Salt commissioned and paid for it, and it opened in 1853; at that time no industrial building in the world had a larger total floor area. Several firms worked on it, among them the Bradford builders J and W Beanland. Salt had been dismayed by the poor conditions he saw in other mills, so he built this one, and the village of Saltaire around it, meaning to give his workers better conditions. Work at the mill stopped in 1986, and a year later Jonathan Silver bought it and began a long renovation. Today it holds an art gallery, shops, a restaurant and space to rent, with many paintings by David Hockney. It is Grade II* listed.
