About Doncaster Minster
Doncaster Minster, dedicated to St George, is the town's Anglican minster in South Yorkshire. After fire destroyed the church that stood here before, George Gilbert Scott designed its replacement, built from 1854 to 1858. Pevsner thought it the most cathedral-like of Scott's parish churches. It is still a working church; inside are a Schulze organ and a well-known Dent clock, and it has eight bells. It is Grade I listed, and it is one of only two parish churches in South Yorkshire with minster status; the other is at Rotherham.
