About Old Bridge, Pontypridd
The Old Bridge at Pontypridd, Yr Hen Bont in Welsh, is a single stone arch carrying a footpath over the River Taff. William Edwards built it, finishing in 1756. It also goes by William Edwards Bridge and Pontypridd Bridge, though its original name was New Bridge (or Newbridge). The bridge is 46 metres long and 10 metres high. Today it has legal protection as a scheduled ancient monument, as well as being Grade I listed.
