About Dunfermline Abbey
Dunfermline Abbey, in Fife, is today a Church of Scotland parish church. It stands where the chancel and transepts of a large Benedictine abbey were in the Middle Ages. During the Scottish Reformation, in 1560, that abbey was sacked and then left to decay, yet part of its church was still used, and pieces of the abbey's buildings survive. The site is a scheduled monument.
