About Cleethorpes Pier
The pleasure pier at Cleethorpes, in North East Lincolnshire, opened in 1873, when it stretched much further out than it does now. During the Second World War a section in the middle was taken out, which left the outer end cut off, and that seaward part was later pulled down. What remains is the shorter pier seen today.
