About Dunbar Castle
Dunbar Castle stood on a commanding spot above the harbour of Dunbar in East Lothian, and in its day it ranked among the strongest fortresses in Scotland. Lying close to the border with England, the site was fortified again and again, one castle following another. The last of them was slighted in 1567, and what survives today is a ruin, protected as a scheduled monument.
